NYICFF Day Two and Catherine Deneuve in brief

This is a quick word on today in the dark.

I saw three films at the New York International Children's Film Festival and On My Way at Rendez-vous with French Cinema reviews of all of them are coming but the short verison goes as follows:
Eric Beckman introduces Boy and the World

FOOSBALL is wonderful. Its one of the best "mainstream" sort of animated films in years, except its from Argentina. If they can get this released in the US it will be a HUGE hit.  you must get tickets for when this plays March 15th or 29th because its that good.

BOY AND THE WORLD is intellectually one of the best films of the year. Its a film whose course isn't obvious until the end...but it's an end that will mean something different to kids than adults. Bittersweet doesn't begin to do it justice. Emotionally I fell asleep twice. Kudos for the festival for daring parents to take their kids to something this challenging.

HOUSE OF MAGIC is a 3D thrill ride that must be seen in 3D. While the story about a magician who's nephew wants his house is good, the visuals are the joy since the film was deigned with a big OH WOW factor, It had the kids in the audience talking back because they were so invested. Let hope this gets a wide US release

ON MY WAY is a wild road film with Catherine Deneuve. The film opens Friday and is an absolute joy. A review goes up tomorrow and the Q&A will be posted when Chocko uploads it.
